The Vintage Military sidecars are accurate restorations of the original motorcycles commissioned by Hitler and Mao. They are a unique piece of 20th Century history. The two models have been named after the respective regimes that they served: The People's Republic and The Third Reich. Both models are designed for both on and off road use. They use the same side-valve 24HP engine as the R71, but the 32HP engine is also available. They are fitted with low ratio final drive cogs which helps them to deal with off road conditions, and high capacity carburetors that provide more power. They have black powder-coated exhaust pipes, and four ammunition boxes for storage. They are simple, reliable and tough, and we restore them in resilient, matt colors such as Luftwaffe grey, PLA green, and black. Perhaps the most esoteric example of the bikes' military heritage is that as well as having the standard gear lever operated by the left foot, there is an alternative gear lever that is operated by the right hand. The best explanation of this quirk that we have heard is that it allows you to change gear even if your left leg has been blown off. We trust that you will never have to make use of this feature, but we hope that you will nonetheless find it comforting to know that it is there - just in case.
